About the organization

As part of the reinforcement of its teaching and research activities in biotherapies, cell therapy, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine, the Faculty of Pharmacy is recruiting a faculty member whose profile lies at the interface of innovative therapies, tissue engineering, and cell transplantation, with a strong focus on type 1 diabetes.

For further information, please see the Faculty of Pharmacy's website (in French only).

Your mission

On the teaching side, you will be actively involved in the teaching provided within the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Master's in Health Engineering, particularly in the Master's 2 program "Cellular, Gene Therapies, and Cellular Engineering".

The position is part of a strong innovation dynamic within the university and its university hospital and technological ecosystem.

On the research front, you will be expected to develop an original research project in the field of tissue engineering applied to regenerative medicine of the endocrine pancreas.

You will have to interact with national project leaders in the field of organs and organoids-on-chips, notably PEPR Med Ooc.

You will join a renowned team in the field of tissue bioengineering led by Professor Sandrine Lablanche (LBFA).

Main activities

You will be expected to provide courses, tutorials, and supervision in the fields of biotherapies, cell and gene therapies, regenerative medicine, as well as regulatory aspects related to advanced therapy products (ATMPs). You will also have to participate in master's-level teaching, particularly in the Master's 2 program "Cellular, Gene Therapies, and Cellular Engineering" and "Biological Medicines".

You will fully participate in the training, research, and development missions carried out by the institution, and contribute to its academic and scientific influence.

You will contribute to  advancing islet transplantation strategies for the treatment of type 1 diabetes by developing approaches to improve the survival, functionality, and integration of transplanted islets.

The project may include the development of advanced in vitro models (pancreatic organoids, organs-on-chips), the study of endocrine functions (particularly insulin secretion in response  to glucose), as well as the design of matrices or devices promoting vascularization and immunotolerance of grafts.

Preferred qualifications

We are looking for candidates who :

  • Are proficient in biotherapies and advanced therapies,
  • Have in-depth knowledge of the regulations governing advanced therapy products (ATMP),
  • Have university teaching experience (lectures, tutorials, supervision),
  • Have advanced skills in tissue engineering applied to the endocrine pancreas,
  • Have an expertise in regenerative medicine for type 1 diabetes,
  • Have knowledge of islet transplantation techniques,
  • Have an experience in developing in vitro models (pancreatic organoids, organs-on-a-chip),
  • Have the ability to design biomimetic matrices or devices promoting vascularization and immunotolerance,
  • Are able to network with national project leaders (e.g., PEPR Med-Ooc).

PhD students who are in their last year can be exempted from the diploma requirement. They must attach a proof (e.g. attestation du directeur de thèse) that their PhD thesis defense will take place before the end of the contract (31/08/2026).

Diplomas required
