About the organization

Teaching

The INSPE of Grenoble (Faculty of Education) is part of Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA). It trains future primary and secondary school teachers, as well as future senior education advisers (conseillers principaux d’éducation, CPEs). It is located across several training sites. Teaching will take place on several sites.

Research

You should be able to join LaRAC, the Laboratory for Research on Learning in Context (Laboratoire de Recherche sur les Apprentissages en Contexte, Université Grenoble Alpes), a multidisciplinary laboratory rooted in the field of education and training sciences. Its research focuses on the dynamics and processes of learning in context, as well as on the social inequalities associated with them. The person recruited will preferably conduct research on learning, education, training, or the contextual determinants of educational pathways and educational practices.

Your mission

You will teach sociology of education. You will contribute to Master’s programs for future secondary school teachers who have passed the competitive recruitment examination, and to Bachelor’s programs for future primary and secondary school teachers.

You will participate in the life of the laboratory and of the research team you choose to join in order to conduct your research, either individually and/or collectively.

Main activities

Teaching

In both secondary and primary education, teaching will focus on knowledge in sociology of education, from the analysis of education systems to inequalities within the system. More specifically, you will teach courses based on recent research findings in the sociology of (1) education, (2) school contexts, and (3) pupils and curricula. These courses will focus in particular on inequalities in learning and educational pathways, and more specifically on the processes at work in school contexts. They will address, at the macro level, the analysis of the education system and how it functions, and, at the micro level, the processes at work in the classroom, such as school-related misunderstandings and peer effects, which contribute to social, migration-related, gender-based, and territorial inequalities.

The position will also involve supervising Master’s dissertations and teaching research methodology courses related to the completion of the dissertation.

Research

You will be involved in your own individual research projects and/or in collective research projects developed or currently being developed within the host team and within the laboratory.

Preferred qualifications

You are expected to have the following skills:

  • Design and deliver courses, both lectures and tutorials, for a non-specialist audience.
  • Supervise Master’s dissertations combining theoretical reflection and practical pedagogical perspectives.
  • Work autonomously and in collaboration with the teaching team.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary research team.

Starting at €2194 gross per month, depending on experience.
In addition to your salary, you will receive a monthly allowance of €105 gros
